“Harvesting the moment of aaah”
I’ve been trying to capture that feeling of when you are out on a walk and suddenly get out of your own head and see the beauty in front of you.
I’m trying to harvest that moment of ahh by balancing the freshness of the playful open beginning with the richness of added layers.
Why do I try to hold onto a part of that fresh beginning? It’s so genuine. It’s at the core of what the painting is.
It’s like asking why do we try to hold onto a slice of our childlike innocence and enthusiasm? It’s at the core of who we are. Some parts are too “too” and so over time we quiet them and reshape them.
I try to hold onto the best parts of the original start of the painting while editing the rest to a richer more nuanced and sophisticated version, harvesting that energy and balancing it to create a moment of aaah.
