Inspired by Hilma af Klint

Anne Bedrick

A few weeks ago, I went to the Hilma af Klint exhibit at the Guggenheim in New York City.  I was very inspired by the colors that she used. If you haven't been to this exhibit, I highly recommend it.  Hilma af Klint was born in the 1800's and was painting in modern abstraction before Kandinsky and Mondrian!  Seeing her work in the Guggenheim is particularly exciting since she imagined her work in a spiraling temple, unfolding as you ascended the spiral. You can learn more about her and her work here

Anyway, to get back to color, I was so enthralled with the colors that she used that I decided to try painting with them.  Here are two that I did using colors inspired by her work.  Scott loved the purple one so much he made me give it to him rather than have it as part of my recent studio sale, so now it is part of the Bedrick collection!
